Sign of Media's Pathetic Ignorance

Headline in big black type at the top of page 2 of the Sunday, May 24, issue of the San Francisco Comical:

"The Portola - an S.F. secret"

Questions:

1. Should readers contribute to the costs of remedial English grammar instruction for the Comical's headline writer and its proofreader(s) who let this mangled language appear in the paper?

and

2. Are we still supposed to continue taking the Comical seriously as a professional journalistic operation?
