Tolerating Everything; Standing For Nothing

More than a dozen young males, ranging in age from the early to late teens recently spent several hours gang raping a young girl whom they grabbed either on or just off a Richmond, California, high school campus where she and many of them had attended a school dance. Many others saw what was transpiring, watched for a bit, and went their various ways without doing anything to stop the atrocity that was taking place. No one even bothered to call the authorities until another girl who had heard about what was happening from one of the witnesses telephoned the police.

The perpetrators, none of whom are the least bit remorseful, now are facing, and will be tried on a multitude of criminal charges. They will be tried, convicted, and sentenced to various terms in prison, and eventually will be let out on parole . . . to commit more violent crimes.

Any doubts about that?

If you have any, think about the parolee who in 1991 kidnapped an 11-year-old girl and then held her captive for 18 years in a backyard compound at his home  in a suburban California community, periodically raping her and fathering  children to whom she gave birth . . . despite periodic visits by probation and parole inspectors who failed to notice anything wrong despite numerous warnings to the authorities from neighbors that things were amiss.

Also take a look at the criminal backgrounds of the members of the group that in 2007 kidnapped Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom in Tennessee, and then held them captive, tortured, raped, and then murdered them in another horrible incident. Because the victims of this outrage were a young and attractive white couple while the perpetrators are black, it went unreported by our media -- the same that went to great lengths to provide every detail of a rape that never happened in order to blacken the reputations of wrongfully accused Duke athletes.

What about the parolee who murdered four Oakland police officers after being freed from prison even though the authorities recognized that he was an incorrigible violent criminal?

The inescapable conclusion is that our society is rotting from within. We no longer believe strongly enough, or have sufficient faith in an any values strongly enough to defend them.  If we did, we would exterminate vermin who commit atrocities such as those outline above, permanently removing them from our midst . . . and while we were doing so we also would remove from any position of authority those responsible for letting such creatures loose on the rest of us.

Is it any wonder that we cannot maintain our leadership position in the world when we lack the faith and strength necessary to defend ourselves and our society?

Perhaps the Obama administration is a symptom rather than the cause of our problems.

But get caught with some marijuana or try to keep the IRS from stealing your money and you can bank on doing time. What a system we have.
