Humanitarian Humbug
Wars supposedly waged with immaculate motives, for purportedly humanitarian rather than self interested purposes, almost always seem to have unanticipated and unwanted consequences. On the other hand, wars waged to defend or advance real national interests appear to have far better outcomes and to cause significantly less harm for everyone involved.
