After spending untold millions of our tax dollars in protracted and probably futile efforts to prevents the mighty Mississippi River from changing course -- as it repeatedly has throughout history -- our government now is resorting to steps that, according to this report, may facilitate such a shift. It should be noted that this is destroying productive agricultural lands in order is to extend, probably temporarily, the existence of New Orleans, a municipal cesspool on a below sea level bog surrounded by various waters . . . and one that stands on an even lower moral base.
