One has to give the Obama administration's economic team credit for its members' steadfast allegiance to their ideological commitments. Despite the continuing flow of devastating economic news on almost every front -- consumer spending, employment, housing, home foreclosures, manufacturing activity -- they continue to believe that they "progress is being made" and that they are on the right path . . . . Evidence to the contrary is ignored or explained away.
Their minds are like those of history's inquisition torturers who faithfully believed that if the racks to which they had their victims tied were tightened just another notch or two the validity of their accusations would come forth, be proven, and shown to be gloriously true and correct.
