An Older and Less Stupid Czar?

Having aged a bit since he advocated discounting the value of the lives of older people, Obama's regulatory czar appears to be backing away from writings in which he laid out the economic benefits of diverting resources away from providing health and welfare benefits for the elderly to purposes that he deemed to be more socially productive. The story can be seen here, but it leaves open to question whether the academic moron now is genuinely less callous than he was just seven years ago or whether he currently just fears being left to suffer and shuffle off from the not so benign neglect he previously was proposing for others.
