The number of individuals renouncing U.S. citizenship surged to a record high in the second quarter of the current year, according to a report in today's issue of The Wall Street Journal.
The number approached twice that that of the previous record high, which was recorded in the preceding quarter.
The WSJ report which can be accessed by clicking here, attributes the departures to the nation's tax laws . . . but whatever the cause, the numbers, as reflected in the following chart, which appeared with and as part of the report, are quite startling:
