Good News from Wisconsin

Remember the demonstrations over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker doing away with collective bargaining for teachers unions? The results are in. School districts went from deficits as great as $400,000 to surpluses of up to $1.5 million as a result.

Why?

It appears that the insurance company that provided all the  "benefits" to the teachers was owned and operated by their union. Since it was guaranteed to get the business, with the state and not the teachers having to pay for it, the company was becoming Wisconsin's most expensive one by increasing the costs every year. The insurance company, in turn, was donating millions of dollars to its favorite Demorat politicians, who, when got elected, were sure to keep funding the union's outrageous costs. In other words, the insurance company was a "pass through," sending Wisconsin taxpayer money directly to the Demorat politicians.
Nice racket, and its going on in other states that allow collective bargaining by public employee unions. No wonder the states are fighting to curtail those "rights."

Guess what's happening in Wisconsin now that the state is free to put the insurance contract out for bid.  Lo and behold, it has saved so much money that deficits are turning into surpluses. As a result, none of the teachers have had to be laid off, everyone got a raise, etc., etc., and the taxpayers aren't having to pay more taxes to fund the unions' political agendas.

Naturally, the leftrickle media isn't reporting this story but it has been set forth in this Washington Examiner account
