On Religion, Man and God, and How Islam Is Different

Notwithstanding the Bible's assertion that God created man in His image, in the Judaeo Christian and most other religious traditions humans have turned that topsy-turvey, creating their gods in their human images. In almost all cases gods are constructed to reflect the societies' ideals and values and imbued with the finest and most noble qualities to which their people aspire.

Islam is different in that Muslims and especially the radical Islamists among them find in their faith excuses, justifications, and even mandates for committing the most horrendous acts and for the most barbaric practices human beings are capable of imagining.
